Traditional Icelandic houses

Gluggagerdin's experience
Icelandic traditions and the latest construction technologies

class="img-responsive

"Black houses" in Iceland are a traditional style of architecture in which the wooden frame is covered with peat and earth, which provides excellent thermal insulation and protection from the harsh Icelandic climate. The wooden facades of these houses are usually covered with black tar, which helps to preserve the wood and also gives the houses their characteristic appearance.

Modern architecture in Iceland includes innovative technologies and design solutions that meet the needs and requirements of life and business. New buildings may include high-quality insulation materials and energy efficiency systems. High-quality insulation materials and high-tech windows and doors are used.

The architecture of black houses can be used as a calling card of Iceland, reflecting its rich history and cultural heritage, and can also add a unique and exotic element to modern architecture. Gluggarerðin builds modern technological houses that at the same time emphasize Icelandic traditions - black wooden facades, white windows, pitched roofs with an angle of 45 degrees, traditional interiors.

They say that the BARNHOUSE style came from America. They say that these are farmhouses. But we consider this style to be Scandinavian, because it is there that such houses have found their embodiment and perfection.

This architecture fits perfectly into the landscapes of Iceland. It seems that this is where such houses look most organic. The metal roof and exterior walls, facade and terrace are made of high-quality heat-treated wood of Ukrainian origin.

All structural elements of the house are designed to meet the climatic conditions of Iceland under the supervision of Gluggagerðin, taking into account their many years of experience in construction in Iceland. The windows and exterior doors are manufactured by the Lithuanian company HCTC, which has many years of experience in manufacturing windows specifically for Iceland and many years of fruitful cooperation with Gluggagerðin.

Special construction conditions in Iceland

Construction in Iceland requires taking into account local peculiarities. Iceland has a rather harsh climate with winds and snowfall. Iceland is located in the zone of North Atlantic cyclonic activity, where wind speeds can reach significant values. Buildings must be designed and constructed to withstand extreme wind loads. Iceland is located in an earthquake zone, so buildings must be strongly constructed and able to withstand significant seismic loads.

GLUGGAGERÐIN ensures the quality and safety of its buildings. Long-term experience allows us to successfully carry out construction projects taking into account the peculiarities of the Icelandic climate and using time-tested approaches and technologies developed over the years.

The guidance of GLUGGAGERÐIN specialists allows us to design and manufacture frames in Ukraine, taking into account the specifics of Iceland, to control and ensure the required properties for windows and exterior doors, and to carry out construction work at the highest level of quality and reliability that meets local conditions.
